Reflections: What Nature Has Taught Me About Life

I have always been a deeply passionate lover of nature. Growing up, my friends and I would spend hours exploring the woods, playing by creeks, and running along streams. My childhood summers consisted of beach vacations, and I always looked forward to traveling to Dominica to swim in the ocean and soak up the island life.

As I got older and began working in local television, the nearby park became my absolute favorite sanctuary. During my breaks, I would literally pull out a blanket and take a napping session under the trees! Haha!

Now, as a business owner building a media company from scratch, going into nature is how I decompress, unlock my creativity, and recalibrate. Spending time with Mother Nature has grounded me in so many ways.

Here are seven powerful lessons she has taught me about life:

1. Nature Does Not Hurry

Nature moves to its own rhythm—it cannot be forced. So often in life, we try to force timelines and outcomes, and it simply doesn’t work. Nature teaches us to surrender to the process and trust the timing of our lives.

2. There is a Season for Everything

If life has taught me anything, it’s that there is a season for every single chapter. Some moments require stillness and reflection; others demand boldness and hustle. Nature mirrors this beautifully. Sometimes it’s warm and vibrant, other times it’s freezing cold—but either way, life goes on. You have to learn how to gracefully move with your current season.

3. Peace of Mind is Priceless

Whether I’m observing a bird chirp or forest bathing, I am constantly reminded that a clear mind is the ultimate luxury. "Life be lifing," and none of us are exempt from the human experience. Being able to tap into a solid, peaceful mind is a massive blessing.

4. Some of the Best Things in Life Are Free

We often look for joy in material things, but many of our local parks and natural spaces don't cost a dime. Nature freely provides us with the exact resources we need to improve our quality of life: inner joy, mental clarity, physical activity, spiritual upliftment, and pure relaxation.

5. We Are All Different, Yet Connected

The next time you are walking through a park, look up at the trees and notice the flowers. Every single living thing has its own unique magic and purpose, yet they all share the same collective ecosystem. We are exactly the same way.

6. Watching the Sky is a Whole Vibe

There is something incredibly therapeutic about looking up at the sky. Whether it’s watching the morning clouds roll in, chasing a golden hour sunset, or stargazing at night, it instantly shifts your perspective. It reminds us of how vast the universe is and how beautiful it is to just be.

7. Simplicity is True Luxury

The older I get, the more I understand that simplicity is priceless. Nature doesn't overcomplicate things. It allows us to strip away the noise of the world and truly appreciate the beautiful, raw treasures right in front of us.
